Exploring with demo data
Starting from a blank app can be hard. You don't yet know what a feeding log looks like once it has a week of entries, or how the Handoff packet reads when there's real activity behind it. Demo data fixes that.
On this page
When you load demo data, CareHaven seeds a fully filled-in sample person you can poke around freely. Your own data is set aside, untouched, and brought back the moment you turn demo mode off. Available
What you get
Demo mode loads sample profiles already filled with roughly two weeks of activity across the whole app. The richest of them is a sample person named Zoe.
Because Zoe already has history, you can open almost anything and see it the way it looks in real use:
- Daily logs with real entries — feedings, sleep, behavior, check-ins, and more
- A populated Home screen, including the Day Shape view and at-a-glance briefing cards
- Goals, milestones, cues, and other Advocacy content
- Medical records like vitals, doctor visits, and medications
- A Handoff packet that reads like a real one because there's real activity behind it
- Reports with actual data to fill them out
It's the fastest way to understand what each feature is for. Tap into anything that catches your eye, read how it's set up, and get a feel for the app before you put in a single thing of your own.
How to load it
You'll find demo data in Settings.
- Open Settings.
- Find Load Demo Data (under the privacy and data area).
- Turn it on.
The sample profiles appear, and you can explore right away.
You can also reach for a sample person on the very first Welcome screen, so you can look around before you ever set up your own profile. See Setting up for the first time for that path.
Your real data is safe
This is the part worth slowing down on, because it's easy to worry about.
Turning on demo mode does not erase anything. Your real profiles and entries are saved and held aside while demo mode is on. When you turn demo mode back off, your own data comes back exactly as it was.
So there's no risk in trying it. Explore as much as you like, then switch it off and you're right where you started.
Removing the demo data
To clear the sample person and return to your own data:
- Open Settings.
- Find Load Demo Data.
- Turn it off.
The demo profiles disappear and your real data is restored.
Demo data stays on your phone
The sample person is just for you to look at. It's local practice data, so it isn't shared the way your real care data can be:
- It does not sync to anyone you've shared care with. If you've invited a co-caregiver, the demo person never shows up on their device. (See Sharing care with others.)
- It is not mirrored to your Apple Calendar. The sample appointments stay inside the demo, so nothing fake lands on your real calendar.
That keeps the line clean between what's pretend and what's real. The demo is yours alone to explore, and it never touches the people or calendars in your actual life.
A good place to start
If you're brand new, a calm first hour looks like this: load demo data, wander through the Home screen, open a few logs to see how entries read, then take a look at a Handoff and a Care Report. When you're ready to begin for real, switch demo mode off and set up your own person in first-run setup.
